Soundings

Privacy policy

Last updated July 12, 2026

The short version: we store what you give us, we don't sell it, we don't run ads, and we lean on a small number of well-known services to keep Soundings running. The details follow.

What we store

Your account. Your email address and your sign-in sessions. There are no passwords — we email you a link instead.

Your surveys. The questions you write, your survey settings, any logo or cover images you upload, and every response your surveys collect.

Billing.Payments are handled by Stripe; your card details never touch our servers. We keep only a reference to your Stripe customer record and which plan you're on.

If you're answering a survey

Your answers go to the person or team who created the survey — we store them on their behalf, and they decide what to ask, who sees the results, and when to delete them. You don't need an account to respond, and we don't track you when you do.

If you want an answer you submitted removed, the fastest route is the person who sent you the survey. You can also email us at support@takesoundings.com with the survey link and we'll help.

AI features

When a survey creator uses an AI feature — drafting a survey, summarizing responses, or asking an automatic follow-up question — the relevant text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate the result. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. We send only what the feature needs, and nothing happens unless the creator asks for it.

Services we rely on

Fly.io hosts the application and database, in the United States. Resend delivers our email (sign-in links and notifications). Stripe processes payments. Anthropic powers the AI features described above. GoatCounter counts pageviews without cookies and without identifying anyone.

Cookies

Exactly one, and only if you sign in: the cookie that keeps you signed in. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, and nothing that needs a consent banner.

Retention and deletion

Deleting a survey permanently deletes it and all of its responses, immediately. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived backups of the database for disaster recovery; deleted data ages out of those automatically.

To delete your account and everything in it, email support@takesoundings.com.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll email account holders before it takes effect. Questions about any of it: support@takesoundings.com.
